Livia Drusilla (58 BC – AD 29), also known as Julia Augusta after her formal adoption into the Julian family in AD 14, was a powerful Roman empress who played a significant role in shaping the administration and policies of her husband, Emperor Augustus. She was known for her intelligence, political acumen, and unwavering support of her husband, whom she married in 38 BC. Livia was also a patron of the arts and sponsor of many public works, including the construction of aqueducts, temples, and monuments. After the death of Augustus in AD 14, Livia became a revered figure in Roman society and was instrumental in the succession of her son Tiberius as emperor. She is considered one of the most influential women in Roman history.
